Hi -
I am wondering if there is a way to turn off these publicly exposed pages to lessen the risk of brute force / SQL injection attacks?
We are using version 4.3.
Would appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks!

Hello,
thank you for reaching out with your security concerns. I understand you want to protect your Smartstore 4.x installation from potential attacks. What's your current hosting setup, and have you experienced any specific security incidents?
Immediate steps for version 4.x:
- Unpublish unnecessary pages via the backend (Content M.S. → Pages/Topics)
- Ensure your admin area uses strong passwords and limit access by IP if possible
- Keep your hosting environment updated and secured
However, I must point out that version 4.x is quite outdated. The current Smartstore version is 6.1, which includes significantly enhanced security features:
- Improved authentication and authorization
- Better protection against common web vulnerabilities
- More modern security frameworks and practices
- Recent security updates and patches
My recommendation: Consider upgrading to Smartstore 6.1 for security improvements. The newer version addresses many security concerns that older versions simply cannot handle effectively.
I'd be happy to discuss your specific security requirements and upgrade options in a brief online consultation. You can book a free consultation here:
