I've noticed quite a few errors in Google Search Console, relating to duplicate pages.  It looks to be because it's treating requests to pages with page size and/or sort order parameters as the same as the base page (with no canonical tag).  This is obviously bad for SEO so I'm wondering how we should cater for this?

 

They are reported as "Duplicate without user-selected canonical".

Please activate Canonical URLs via Configuration / Settings / General / SEO. This should solve the problem.

Thanks, but this is already selected. Do you mean that I need to add to the "extra disallows for robots .txt"? If so, how do I specify these?

@Murat please could you provide an example of how you'd exclude ordering and page size from the canonical URL?  Simply turning on canonical URLs is not enough to address this issue, and Google Search Console is full of errors because of it...

Hi guys.  I can see that this feature has been added to v5.1.0, but no development has happened against this milestone/tag for almost 3 months now.  It looks like there are only 2 outstanding issues to be addressed before 5.1.0 can be released:  https://github.com/s...ore/milestone/7

Have you tried to download Smartstore 5.1 (that is the current version as of now) and test it?
