I'm testing things before going live in a few days (while having the Store Closed option activated). I can't find how to send emails manually. Maybe under System>Scheduled Tasks? But Scheduled Tasks gives an error see screenshot. Everything else seems to work fine. I have SmartStore.NET version 3.2.1.0. My shop is poppentopper.com.

Best regards,

Josien

Are you using SQL Server Compact Edition?

Looking at the SmartStore system information I found this: Data provider SQL Server Compact (SQL CE). So I think the answer is yes.

The Compact Edition is intended for testing only. For a live system you should use SQL Server. Then also the manual email sending via Scheduled Tasks will work, which is actually not necessary, because the task is executed in very short intervals by default.

Thanks for your quick answer! So as soon as my shop is live it will work (without me adjusting anything)? That would be great. I already thought it could be the reason but was not sure.

For your Live System you must select SQL Server as database system during installation, not SQL Server Compact Edition!

Ah ok, I misunderstood then (I thought that the problem only occurred while testing in Store Closed mode :p). During installation - which is already quite a while ago - I chose the built-in database because my shop is simple with only a few hundred products. Besides that my knowledge of SQL is near zero so that seemed the best way to go for at the time. Strangely enough I did not see the Scheduled Task error earlier, although I have gone through the admin options numerous times setting up the shop. I'm going live this weekend and I can live with not having the option to send emails manually since all automatic emails are being sent. But I'm having fears now that something unexpected turns up causing bigger problems, although everything else seems to work fine. I don't see how I could change my installation at this point.
