1. When I imported new customer I didn't set the customer guid field.  This left them all with a "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" guid.  I assume this will cause a problem?

 

2. Is there a way to import customer roles?

1. The URL "My Wishlist" will not work because it uses the GUID and is not unique in your case. And the identification of guest customers by "visitor cookie" will not work anymore.

 

2. Yes by column "CustomerRoleSystemNames". It contains pipe separated names of customer roles (e.g. "Registered") which are assigned to the customer. (Administrators and SuperAdministrators are ignored during import.)
