Hi,

I have some issues on understanding the concepts of bundling and/or grouping.

I have in mind a feature that is widely proposed by sellers: let say that we have an smartphone that regularly cost 1000 euros, and we want to suggest (but not to force) the customer to buy for example the phone with an extra 1,2,5 year warranty (that cost e.g. 10, 20, 50 euros) and / or with an leather case that cost e.g. 25 euros.

What is the way to do this having in mind the principle of choosing not forcing, and requiring to be displayed distinctly in the cart (each item with it's own price) and on the invoice?

So: bundling, grouping or attribute? or nor of them? (maybe a concept of suggested product to be considered?)

thank you

Hi,

do you know our demo store?
http://www.smartstor...n/#section-demo

i think for your purposes, a group product must be the most suitable.

Each product comes with the original price in the cart.

If you offer a special price for all products together you take on a best a bundle product.

Grouping is a simple thing, just a way of product presentation. Rather than offering a single product "isolated" you can present multiple
products on a single page but where each product becomes a separate cart item.

Bundling means selling multiple products as one, namely as a bundle... typically distinguished between a manufacturer bundle
(where products are assembled by a manufacturer) and a merchant bundle (where products are assembled by a merchant). The
bundle is always purchased as a whole.

I would choose attributes for your example because you can distinguish between major (smartphone) and minor (warranty, leather case)
services. But grouping would be fine too.

In fact I found that the most similar with what I say is "Checkout attribute", because is the most adequate if you want that the item is truly optional (at least for this specific kind, such as extra warranty or e.g. extra assurance for relevant products).

But I don't understand how it works, because is displayed on checkout page, but it seems that it don't update the cart ?!

On the other hand, I think that is very useful for some kind of attributes (e.g. Colour) to have opportunity to assign a separate set of images. (e.g. supposing a dress with attributes red, green, blue, and to display the specified colour choose)

And another issue: if I have reward points, at the payment step I am asked if I want to use them, but I have only the way of using all of them. I think that here must be available a choice of how many points I want to use.

No, checkout attributes are not intended for product attributes like colour.

No, I don't mean to colour. I just tried for example for implementing a sale of extra warranty, but is not appropriate because it comes every time, not for selected products. Finally the most similar seems to be cross-selling.

For warranties we use grouped products one associated product  without and the other with warranty

So this means that in fact a grouped product is (must be) a different item in the catalog?

Yes. There are three types of products (simple, grouped, bundled) and each of them is a catalog item.
But when you associate a simple product to a grouped product, you can specify whether the simple product is
individually visible (or just visible on the detail page of the grouped product).
