Cannot add message tokens to email templates

Hi guys,

 

I've just noticed that the message token drop down is now missing from the demo site (e.g. http://demo.smartsto...emplate/Edit/19).  The v3.1 documentation suggests that it should be there...  Is this a bug?

No, it's not a bug. It has been replaced by auto-completion. Use the keyboard to add two open curly brackets in the editor. The editor then automatically adds two closing brackets. Then press the space bar and a pop-up menu with the placeholders appears. Note that this only works if the message template has been processed at least once!

Thanks Marcus - that's much easier to use!  Please could you update the documentation to reflect this change?

 

Also, what is the purpose of the email template files in the App_Data\Email Templates folder?  Are these overridden by any changes made using the UI?

The folder contains the default content of the message templates that are imported into the database during installation. They may be overwritten\updated during a program update but not at runtime.
